Legislators allied to deputy president William Ruto have come out to defend Otiende Amollo over the injustice meted towards him after he challenged the BBI report.

In a rare show of solidarity with the Rarieda MP, the DP Ruto allies have called out the ODM party for authoritarianism following his ouster from the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee(JLAC).

The Tanga Tanga legislators have stated that the ODM party could not stand corrections from Otiende Amollo over the BBI bill, hence chose to silence him by kicking him out of the legal committee where he served as a chairperson.

Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga took to her Twitter account to show solidarity with Otiende, saying that he had to pay the wages of telling the truth.

“Otiende Amollo rubbed Ayatollah the wrong way by stating the truth about BBI. He has paid it with his “blood”. He has been kicked out of JLAC by ODM. The dictator has always camouflaged as a Democrat. Rule by the thump. We haven’t seen anything yet,” tweeted Omanga.

Her sentiments were also echoed with Soy MP, Caleb Kositany who consoled the Rarieda MP, telling him that the truth was costly, but it sets people free.

“Do not worry, it’s your stand for the truth that costed you. Murkomen, Kihika, Duale, Ichungwa, Washali, Kindiki, myself & many others, are victims. The truth shall set us free,” Kositany told his Rarieda counterpart.

On the other hand, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator who is also a close ally of Ruto had foreseen Otiende’s predicament.

On May 2, Murkomen warned that Otiende’s team wanted the BBI bill be passed following all the legal procedures, but ODM was not willing to undertake the course.

“The fight within ODM is between democracy, human rights& good governance wing led by Orengo/Otiende/Millie vs the merchants&tenderpreneurs led by Junet/Mbadi/Wanga.Idealists vs dealers. Both believe in Baba but Baba believes in the Money. The dealers want BBI passed the way State wants,” he said.
