Tongaren MP says Moses Wetang’ula demanded helicopter from Bungoma governor

by Amos Khaemba

Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu has sensationally claimed that failure by Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati to buy a helicopter for Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula was the main reason for their fallout.

Speaking in Bungoma town on Friday, February 5, during the Azimio la Umoja rally, Eseli accused Wetang’ula of having the habits of exporting Western region governors.

“Wetang’ula and Wangamati fell out because Wetang’ula demanded a helicopter from the governor. And this is what he has been doing to other governors including the outgoing governor of Trans Nzoia,” Eseli alleged.

According to Eseli, Wangamati turned down Wetang’ula’s request telling him that he cannot misuse county resources which could easily land him in trouble with EACC.

On his part, DAP-K party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi censured Wetang’ula for “opposing every development project” initiated by the Bungoma governor.

“We must come together in Azimio. We want a senator who will work with the governor, one who will cooperate with other leaders and is not self-centered,” Wamunyinyi added.

The Kanduyi MP revealed that there were talks in Azimio to field one candidate to take on Wetang’ula in the senatorial contest.

“We must have a very strong person who will take Wetang’ula home. We are having that discussion because the Ford Kenya leader must lose his seat. If he does not go home, Bungoma will not change,” said Wamunyinyi.

Wangamati was officially announced that he will be using the DAP-K party in seeking his re-election in the August 9 General Election.

The Bungoma governor was among the Ford Kenya leaders who attempted to replace Wetang’ula as the Ford Kenya leader.
