Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on Wednesday, November 15, formed an expert committee to assess the state of JKIA, Wilson, and Moi airports.

This was after a video of a leaking roof at JKIA emerged online, causing a national uproar.

“Today to deal with this issue, and in a comprehensive manner, I have formed a committee to investigate the status of our airports, and in particular Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Wilson International Airport, and Moy International Airport Mombasa,” Murkomen said.

This comes just a day after the CS was spotted wearing an expensive pair of shoes, reinforcing his reputation as one of the most expensively dressed government officials.

Murkomen who has been living large since he was appointed into the Kenya Kwanza regime was spotted wearing black LO-TOP sneakers Phantom Kick and a leather platinum hexagon.

According to the market value, the sneakers are estimated to be USD 760 (KSh 125,000).

It is worth noting that this is not the first time the CS has made headlines over his expensive fashion sense.

In June 2023, Murkomen who brags about how he shops at a high-end boutique in Yaya Center that stocks imported designer suits was spotted with a pricey Hublot watch.

His latest sense of fashion has raised sharp reactions from millions of Kenyans who are struggling to make ends meet.

“Most of us work endless hours to pay our bills and survive. The truth is, we are spending our best years working to enrich someone else,” one of the users on X said.
