The National Assembly was on Wednesday, December 29, suspended for 15 minutes after Sigowet-Soin MP Bernard Koros was seriously injured.

The legislator was seen wiping off blood using his handkerchief claiming that he had been attacked by a fellow legislator in the August House.

“Mr. Speaker, I have been attacked in this house by the master of violence, now I can’t see, I can’t vote. We cannot accept to be injured in a national house. This cannot happen here!” Koros said.

Chaos erupted as the MPs were called upon to vote on the proposed amendments by Kandara MP Alice Wahome to amend Clause 6 of the Political Parties Act as the lawmakers queued to vote, a brawl erupted within parliament buildings.

This saw the session speaker Chris Omulele suspend the sitting for 15 minutes to allow the tension to tone down.

Following the incident, ODM Chairman and Minority Leader John Mbadi has suspended from parliament for five days a decision that he has since protested.

Luanda MP Chris Omulele who was chairing the session found Mbadi guilty of misconduct after punching Koros in the face.

Omulele ordered the Suba South MP out of the house and excluded him from five sittings.

“Hon Mbadi is hereby directed to leave precincts of this House,” he said.

The Bill is seen as part of the strategy to turn Azimio La Umoja, Opposition Chief Raila Odinga’s 2022 machine into a coalition party.
