UDA gubernatorial aspirants clash in front of Rigathi Gachagua

by Enock Ndayala

On Wednesday, June 15, Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua led the Kenya Kwanza team in drumming up support for their boss in Kiambu County.

This happened at a time cracks continue emerging in the Kenya Kwanza coalition which is led by the 2022 presidential running mate William Ruto.

Last month, ugly scenes were witnessed between Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa of UDA and Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi of the Pamoja Alliance Party (PAA) over the fielding of candidates.

On Wednesday, June 15, Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua led the Kenya Kwanza team in drumming up support for their boss in Kiambu County.

On Wednesday, June 15, Kenya Kwanza gubernatorial candidates Kimani Wamatangi of UDA and William Kabogo of Pamoja Tujibebe party for the Kiambu County clashed.

In a video seen by Kivumbi.co.ke, the two engaged in a bitter word exchange, pointing fingers at each other during a Kenya Kwanza rally in Kiambu.

It all started when the Kimani was invited to address the crowd at Kagwe shopping center in Lari after Kabogo, but a few minutes into his speech, he (Kimani) was rudely interrupted by the former lawmaker.

In the exchange that nearly turned physical, Kiambu senator Wamatangi, who shared the same vehicle with UDA Presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua, accused Kabogo of threatening him insisting that he would not be intimidated.

“I will no longer buy fear from you Kabogo, you spoke here and I did not interrupt you. My focus is on developing Kiambu and do not dare me. Look elsewhere if you want to sell fear. Who told you this county belongs to you? Shut up and get out of here!” Wamatangi lamented.

In a rejoinder, Kabongo who had ostensibly envisioned the standoff pulled out his microphone and fired back at Wamatangi.
