UDA gubernatorial candidate on spot for killing house-help 4 years ago

by Enock Ndayala

Sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have now linked Meru senator Mithika Linturi to the death of his house help Edith Kananu.

Kananu died on October 6, 2018, in Mithika Linturi’s house under mysterious circumstances. Kananu was laid to rest without a post-mortem being conducted.

On Thursday, May 19, the DCI through Chief Inspector Maurice Amway sought an order of exhumation of Linturi’s late house girl saying his office has opened a fresh inquest file and investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances under which she died.

“We humbly urge this court to protect and save all victims, widows, orphans, the hopeless, those in fear of Linturi who is bribing his way through the criminal justice,” reads the affidavit.

While seeking the orders, the DCI said that nobody will suffer prejudice if an order for exhumation and post-mortem is granted to establish the cause of death of the late Kananu.

“That nobody will suffer prejudice if an order for exhumation and postmortem is granted to establish the cause of death of the late Edith Kananu who was murdered through poisoning,” the affidavit added.

The Meru gubernatorial hopeful is currently in court to answer for his alleged involvement in the unresolved murder of his late business associate Stanley Maroe Mugwika.

Mwai also claimed that intimidation and blackmail were being used by Linturi to stall investigations into the incidents.

“That there are concerted efforts of all manner including blackmail, intimidation, bribery, and all other manners of dirty tricks to ensure that the cause of death is concealed and never to be established,” he said.

Maore was on August 23, 2006, found dead with gunshots at the neck.

It is alleged that Maore and Linturi, both directors of Ark Choice Brokerage company, rubbed shoulders before his death.
