Jubilee Party has unveiled a candidate to fly its flag in the oncoming Kiagu by-election on October 14, 2021 in what promises to be yet another showdown with UDA, an outfit linked to Deputy President William Ruto

The party’s Secretary General, Raphael Tuju handed over the party’s nomination certificate to Samson Kinyua Magambo in preparation for the Kiagu ward by-election.

“The SG has reaffirmed that the Party will offer Kinyua the necessary support throughout the campaign and election period,” the Jubilee Party said in a statement posted to its social media page.

As the Jubilee Party unveiled its candidate, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) also unveiled Simon Kiambi Ngaruni as its flagbearer in the Kiagu by-election.

William Ruto hailed the other contestants for supporting Simon, who won the party polls.

“Special mention to Waheshimiwa Richard Mwangi, Daniel Mawira Miriti, Denis Kiogora, Bonface Munene Mureithi and Jimmy Kinyua for their courage, political maturity and leadership in accepting the Kiagu Ward UDA Party polls results,” he said.

This means that the political showdown between UDA and Jubilee Party will be witnessed in the Kiagu by-election.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto will yet again get the chance to prove their political might following recent such showdowns in London, Muguga, Huruma, and Rurii ward by-elections.

Even though Ruto’s UDA party has lately clinched the parliamentary seats, Uhuru’s Jubilee has given them stiff competition in the ward by-elections.

In March, UDA clinched the London Ward seat while Jubilee got the Huruma Ward seat after concurrent by elections.

Months later, UDA defeated Jubilee in the Rurii ward by-elections that were held in May.

Uhuru’s team got its chance to prove its might once again by winning the Muguga ward by-election held in July.
