The Head of State momentarily halted his speech and almost scampered to safety but realized his security detail had the situation under control.

When the security team handled the threat Uhuru said ‘pole sana, kila mtu na mambo yake’ (Sorry for that, it appears everyone has their own issues) then continued to read his speech.

Here is a video of the incident;

It is not the first time a dignitary faces a security threat at the coastal region.

In 2014, ODM leader was dancing at a rally in Kwale county when a man bypassed his security detail and whipped him.

The man, identified as Lengo Karisa Mudzomba found his way through security officers with a cane and whipped Raila Odinga and governor Salim Mvurya countable times.

He was then arrested and charged. During a hearing of his case at the Kwale law court, the accused asked to be granted permission to make peace with Raila and Mvurya.

In court, mzee Lengo recalled the incident, narrating his actions against the dignitaries.

“I was from taking tea and went to the event. I still do not know how I ended up whipping them, I just remember being pushed to the ground.

“I was accused of drinking and taking hard drugs by the locals who demanded answers to why I canned Raila,” he explained.
