President Uhuru’s cousin Kung’u Muigai has sharply criticized the first in command for endorsing opposition leader Raila Odinga.
According to Muigai, the move by the first in command to endorse long-time political foe and the ODM leader Raila Odinga for the top seat is against the 1969 oath.
Speaking to Taifa Leo on Tuesday, March 1, Uhuru’s cousin revealed that those who took the oath vowed to prevent Raila Odinga’s father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, and his descendants from taking over the leadership of Kenya.
Kung’u said those who took the 1969 oath should be cleansed before supporting Odinga, otherwise, the vote-rich Mt Kenyan community will be cursed.
He said President Kenyatta’s decision to support his handshake partner did not belong to the Mount Kenya community but to him as an individual.
This comes barely a week after the first in command officially endorsed the former prime minister for the presidency in the forthcoming General Election.
While addressing delegates of the Mt Kenya region, Uhuru urged his community to back Raila’s bid saying he has the best interests for the country.
He stated that the ODM leader understands where the country is heading, and will therefore be at peace to hand to him the leadership mantle.
“An old man on a stool sees further than a boy on a tree. Let me stick with the old man who I can talk to,” President Uhuru said in an apparent reference to ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The President in an apparent reference to Deputy President William Ruto said he will have no problem supporting him in future if he reforms.
“I’m asking you to support Raila Odinga as he means well for the Country. When ‘my young man reforms’, we will consider him,” the president said.
