We have numbers to impeach William Ruto- Jubilee party vice-chairman

by Enock Ndayala

Jubilee Party chairman David Murathe has said they have enough numbers to impeach deputy President William Ruto.

The fierce critic of DP Ruto insisted the BBI bill success in both houses of parliament proved impeaching Uhuru’s deputy is very easy.

“When you go for the impeachment of someone of the stature of the deputy president, you need to be sure about your numbers. Going by the numbers that we saw during the BBI bill vote, we crossed the threshold. We had over 235 lawmakers, and the mark needed is 233. So it is possible to impeach the DP,” Murathe said during an interview on KTN news.

According to the vice chair, Ruto deserves impeachment because he has been sabotaging government projects and missing major state functions.

“Why was he not on hand to receive the Tanzanian president? He was not at the functions held by Suluhu including meetings and the dinner,” Murathe asked.

When president Samia Suluhu was on a two-day tour in the country, Ruto was missing in action, with his communications team saying he was not invited.

It is not the first time Murathe has made these threats, earlier, he even hinted that DP Ruto would be kicked out of his official residence in Karen.

“The eviction party from the hustler’s mansion in Karen is loading, very soon there will be an eviction party,” he said on another interview in February 2021.

Murathe also said all legislators allied to DP Ruto for expulsion from Jubilee Party.

Soon after his warning, Jubilee’s National Management Committee removed Caleb Kositany from the deputy vice-chair position.
