Wetang’ula warns President Uhuru against listening to COTU boss Francis Atwoli

by Amos Khaemba

Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula has warned President Uhuru against listening to COTU boss Francis Atwoli, saying he will mislead him.

Speaking in Kakamega County on Tuesday, February 8, during the Kenya Kwanza campaign trail, Wetang’ula told President Uhuru that Atwoli’s advice is only meant to mislead him.

“And Mr. President do not listen to this Atwoli, he is a prophet of doom. He is going to send you astray,” Wetang’ula said.

The Ford Kenya leader said it was deceptive for the vibrant unionist to tell the president that he was going nowhere when in fact the president is proceeding to retirement.

“You have built a legacy of a democrat, you have been elected twice, and you are now going to retire in total grace and respect,

“When Atwoli keeps telling you that you are going nowhere, you know he is lying to you because you are going somewhere in retirement,” Wetang’ula.

Wetang’ula added that with such kind of advice President Uhuru does not need any enemies as he is already surrounded by enemies.

The Kenya Kwanza principal further hit out at Atwoli saying he lacks political experience to advise people on matters of winning an election.

“You tried to stand for elections, you didn’t make 200 votes, you have no business anywhere lecturing anybody about electoral politics,” Wetang’ula said.

Speaking in Mombasa on Monday, February 7, the COTU boss had intimated that President Uhuru will not retire like any other president.

“He is not retiring like other presidents who becomes old after retiring…he will remain somewhere as a spokesman,” Atwoli said.

“When Central Kenya lost Jomo Kenyatta, it took them another 20 years to get a leader who is seated right there. He will not disappear. He and Raila will only retire after Raila clinches the presidency,” Atwoli added.

The vibrant COTU boss has been at the forefront saying that President Uhuru is still young to retire from active politics after the end of his two terms
