Why Kalonzo and Gideon Moi walked out of Mudavadi’s earthquake meeting

One Kenya Alliance principal Kalonzo Musyoka and Gideon Moi on Sunday, January 23, walked out of ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi’s earthquake meeting at the Bomas of Kenya.

The Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, KANU chairman Gideon Moi, and ODM presidential contender Jimmy Wanjigi had honoured Mudavadi’s invite but they walked out in protest moments before the earthquake meeting began.

This was after Members of Parliament allied to Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance walked in.

Addressing journalists outside the Bomas of Kenya, OKA’s spokesperson Fredrick Okango said they walked out of the function since they were not comfortable with the other friends that Mudavadi had invited.

Okango said that the alliance could not condone Mudavadi’s political gimmick, adding that they were moving to what he termed as higher grounds.

“OKA has today walked out of Mudavadi’s ‘earthquake’ meeting. We are moving to higher grounds where Kenyans are safer. It is a wrap with nasty political games,” said Okango.

During the event, the deputy president announced that he will work with ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi, Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula, and all other parties that want to walk the journey of bringing Kenyans together.

The former Eldoret North MP who has expressed interest in succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August 9, General Election further insisted that the only presidential hopefuls who have prioritized the economy in their agenda to Kenyans are himself and Mudavadi.

Some of the Tanga Tanga leaders who graced former vice-president Musalia Mudavadi’s ‘earthquake’ meeting include Nandi Governor Steven Sang, Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, and Kirinyanga Governor Anne Waiguru.

Others were MPs Aden Duale (Garrisa Township) Aisha Jumwa (Malindi), Didmus Barasa (Kimilili), Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East), Vincent Kemose (West Mugirango), Vincent Munyaka (Machakos Town), Irungu Kang’ata (Muranga Senator), Catherine Waruguru (Laikipia), and Nelson Havi (Westlands UDA aspirant).
