ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has said that the party will be retaining Ford-Kenya’s money after the split of NASA coalition on June 29, 2021.

Speaking in an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, Sifuna said they can not give the political parties funds to Ford-Kenya because of their internal wrangles.

He said the leadership wrangles between Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and Kandiyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi’s pacts has made it difficult to release Ford-Kenya’s money.

“The only monies we are holding are monies for Ford-Kenya, and it is because we do not want to finance civil war. We don’t want to give a fraction of the money so that they can go and decimate the other,” Edwin Sifuna said.

Edwin Sifuna added that Ford Kenya Secretary General  Eseli Simiyu is in agreement with the decision to withhold the money, and that it is documented in writing.

“We have said that we will respect the court process in respect of the Ford-Kenya leadership wrangle. It is our money; this money is by favour,

“My counterpart in Ford-Kenya, Eseli Simiyu, is in agreement that in fact we should hold this money until the leadership wrangle is resolved,” Sifuna added.

While announcing their exit from the troubled NASA coalition, ODM announced that it will be giving its affiliates in the National Super Alliance KSh152 million share of the political parties cash.

In their agreement, Kalonzo’s Wiper was to get Sh70.4 million for the three financial years with ANC getting Sh43.8 million.

Ford Kenya was to be given KSh36 million and Isaac Ruto’s CCM will take home KSh3 million.

Sifuna said that the other NASA partners; Wiper Party, Chama Cha Mashinani, and Amani National Congress had already received their share of the money.
