William Ruto ally Ndindi Nyoro suspended from parliament

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro was on Wednesday, January 5, suspended from Parliament for two days for accusing Wajir Woman Rep Fatuma Gedi of bribing members to endorse the controversial bill.

Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto has been delt yet another blow after his close ally was suspended from the National Assembly.

Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro was on Thursday, May 13, barred from accessing the parliament precincts including his office for a period of four days.

This is after the lawmaker was found culpable of disorderly conduct following his sentiments pointing to his colleagues as cowards, sellouts and conmen.

“Hon. Ndindi Nyoro can only be suspended from the precincts of parliament including his office for four days starting today,” the speaker said.

This was after the speaker gave permission to the members on the floor to move a motion for the suspension of the member.

Majority whip Emmanuel Wangwe moved a motion and was seconded by his deputy Maoka Maore after the speaker invoked Standing Orders 108.

The legislator while appearing before the House to shed light on his allegations however reiterated that there were some MPs who voted through their conscience while others were given kickbacks to vote in favor of the BBI bill.

“I referred to some people as cowards, traitors and sellouts. But I also want to add they are sycophants and betrayers of the Kenyan People,” Nyoro said.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria who had earlier claimed that Members were bribed to a tune of Ksh 100,000 to endorse the Building Bridges Initiative bill was however forgiven after he denied saying that MPs were bought.

The process to amend the Constitution of Kenya 2010 has brought drama in both the National Assembly and the Senate where some close allies of DP Ruto surprisingly endorsed the bill.
