Deputy President William Ruto allies have protested the detention of Aydin Harun, the man at the center of his aborted Uganda trip.

The Turkish National was intercepted upon landing at the Wilson Airport and taken into custody by officers from the anti-terror police unit.

This was after being grilled by immigration officers at the airport.

The detention of Haydin Ahmed has caused an uproar among Ruto allies.

According to the Tanga Tanga associates, Aydin is being prosecuted just because of his links to DP Ruto.

In a tweet, Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi said the police officers holding Aydin Harun have denied him, counsel, after getting orders from top government officials.

“Apparently the right to Counsel of one’s choice doesn’t apply to Turkish national Mr. Harun Aydin arrested by the Kenyan police. I have been denied access to see him allegedly “on orders from above,” the lawyer wrote.

Other Ruto allies have protested the actions by the police, with Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi daring them to arrest him too.

“They allege they want to interrogate him but they are trying to provoke the Deputy President because he remained silent when they block him from traveling.

“I am just here outside Kilimani (police station). I want to be arrested too,” said the Kapseret lawmaker.

Here are other reactions from other Deputy President William Ruto allies.

Before the arrest of Aydin Harun, DP William Ruto defended him, accusing the government of victimising the man because of his relationship with him.

In an interview on Inooro TV, the second in command said Haydin is a reputable businessman who is in the country legally after clearance from the Turkish Government.

“The Turkish businessman, the Turkish embassy itself has issued a statement saying he is a recognized businessman and has a work permit… There are those who want to destroy saying he is a terrorist,” Ruto said.
