Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has sensationally claimed President Uhuru’s family could be benefiting from the loss o KSh 2 billion the president once said is lost in Kenya daily through corruption.

In a social media post, Kihika who is Ruto’s ally said the Pandora Papers expose could partially explain where illegally acquired cash in Kenya ends up.

“Can we connect the dots and authoritatively say we have finally found where the KSh 2 billion lost daily is being ‘stashed’?” Susan Kihika posed a day after revelations that President Uhuru’s family has secret companies in renowned tax havens abroad.

The Senator referred to a previous confession by President that more than KSh 2 billion is lost in Kenya daily due to corruption.

“Even those talking about the cost of a referendum, I don’t know where they are getting those figures from…we are waiting for the signatures to be verified then take the process to the counties…

” these people don’t mislead the public that Ksh.2billion will be spent, yet what they steal every day is more than KSh 2 billion,” President Uhuru said on January 18, while emphasizing the need for Kenyans to go to a referendum to amend the 2010 constitution.

In the Pandora papers, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family was linked to secret offshore accounts as well as companies registered in tax havens.

One of the 13 accounts that are in Panama and other financial tax heavens is said to be holding Ksh 3 billion which can not be accounted for.

The 13 accounts are in the names of President Uhuru’s mother (Ngina Kenyatta), his brother (Muhoho Kenyatta), sisters (Christina Pratt and Anne Nyokabi).

This has raised questions, with Political activist Jerotich Seii questioning the family’s source of wealth which makes it consider stashing money abroad.

“You have people like Jeff Bezos, Richard Branson, Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, you can actually see how they generated this kind of wealth, tell me what the Kenyatta’s invented so that we can see how they have made their wealth & reinvested,” Seii said.
