William Ruto ally praises Raila’s massive rally in Eldoret town

by Nderi Caren

Kericho Senator Aarom Cheruiyot, an ally of William Ruto has reacted to Raila’s highly successful rally at Eldoret town held on Friday, October 15.

The outspoken senator said the warm reception that Raila Odinga received is a sign of political maturity as the country heads to the 2022 General Election.

Even though Eldoret town is known to be DP Willliam Ruto’s hometown and political stronghold, Raila Odinga seemed to enjoy a warm reception with residents closing shops and stopping business to listen to his 2022 campaign message.

“ODM’s rally in Eldoret is a big win for believers of non-tribal and regionalized politics. Eldoret has shown the way.

“Violence planners of political bedrooms ought to be ashamed and mature up. As we meet hustlers in all corners of Kenya, may the same spirit prevail,” Aaron Cheruiyot wrote in a Tweet.

On the day that Raila Odinga visited Eldoret, Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi welcomed him, urging residents not to interrupt his rival’s rally.

Sudi further claimed that he mobilised the youth to attend Raila’s massive rally in Eldoret town.

“I wish I was in Eldoret but I am on my way there. I have told my supporters and my people to welcome Raila Odinga in Eldoret. I have told them to allow him to sell his agenda without fear of facing any violence or being shouted down,” Oscar Sudi said.

He urged residents to practice political tolerance even though Eldoret Town was known to be William Ruto’s base.

Everyone should be granted an opportunity to voice their agenda. We should not plan to disrupt rallies of our opponents or hire people to heckle them.

That type of politics is old-fashioned and is no longer acceptable. We welcome Raila and encourage residents to embrace peace since Eldoret is a cosmopolitan town,” he added.
