William Ruto ally says Raila Odinga (tinga) is a destroyer

by Nderi Caren

William Ruto ally and Kandara MP Alice Wahome has termed Raila Odinga a person only good at destroying what has been built, as his nickname (inga) which translates to bulldozer suggests.

According to Alice Wahome, the ‘Tinga’ nickname that Raila Odinga earned during his time as minister for roads and housing in the early 2000s aptly captures his nature of destroying anything.

She compared Raila Odinga nickname to William Ruto whose United democratic Party symbol is a wheelbarrow- a machine that is very useful at construction sites.

“You see, in the history of Kenya Tingas (bulldozers) are well known for demolishing; Our people have suffered. On the other hand, there is no construction site without a wheelbarrow. It is up to us to choose whether to build or demolish,” Alice Wahome wrote in a social media post.

Her sentiments came after Raila Odinga, referring himself to a ‘Tinga’ (bulldozer), boasted of his ability to comfortably climb Mt Kenya (get more votes in Mt Kenya region) compared to William Ruto’s wheelbarrow.

Using the symbolism of a bulldozer and a wheelbarrow, Raila Odinga argued that William Ruto cannot conquer the Mt Kenya region.

“My other name is Tinga Tinga(bulldozer), between a bulldozer and a wheelbarrow which one can climb the mountain fast?” Odinga possed in his campaign tour in Morang’a.

The Kandara MP however argued that Raila Odinga only gets to climb part of the mountain but William Ruto has managed to make it difficult for the former Prime Minister to be successful at it.

“The biggest problem facing Raila Odinga today is that he is fighting very hard to climb the mountain but every time he reaches quarter way, William Kamau Ruto moves the mountain. Hard!” she said in a Facebook post.

Ruto is on the record for bragging about conquering the mountain, asking his opponents to consult him if they want to be successful at convincing Mt Kenya voters.

“There are people who have realised today there is a mountain and are now looking for it on Google Maps. They should know that I call the shots here,” Ruto said in a previous event after Raila Odinga met the Mt Kenya Foundation which is tasked with getting a suitable successor for Uhuru Kenyatta.
