Nandi Senator Samson Cheragei claims that the 2022 presidential election has already been rigged with the help of some key Cabinet Secretaries.

Speaking to the press on Monday, November 1, Cherargei who is an ally of Deputy President William Ruto said the state officials are in favor of ODM leader Raila Odinga.

He argued that the Cabinet Secretaries who hold critical positions have are the proof of an unfair 2022 presidential election.

“I have seen Joe Mucheru (ICT CS), Eugene Wamalwa (Devolution CS), and Fred Matiang’i (Interior CS). These people should protect the country, but we saw them recently declare their support for Raila Odinga,” Cherargei said.

He called on the dismissal of the Cabinet Secretaries to guarantee a free and fair presidential election in the 2022 State House race.

“I want to request President Kenyatta that in the interest of the peace and integrity of elections in this country, they must be fired or given lighter duties,

There is no way we can have the Minister of Interior, Defence and Information and Communications Technology support one candidate as we approach the General Election,” he added.

Cherargei stated that the involvement of the Cabinet Secretaries gives a leeway to rigging, calling on President Uhuru to fire them

“I want to say this without the fear of contradiction. The rigging of the 2022 general elections has already begun,” he said.

A number of Ruto allies have called for the firing of Cabinet Secretaries who have openly shown their support for Raila Odinga in the 2022 presidential election.

This is after Interior CS Fred Matiang’I publicly endorsed Raila Odinga, vowing to do what it takes to support him.

“I will do everything the President tells me faithfully with absolute loyalty and focus to serve my country,

“Since the handshake, I have sat down with Raila (Odinga) and we have had discussions,” Matiang’i said.
