William Ruto ally to sue President Uhuru after KDF takeover of KEMSA

by Enock Ndayala
Kandara MP Alice Wahome has called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to be mindful of his words as the country approaches the General Election.

Kandara MP Alice Wahome has threatened to sue President Uhuru Kenyatta for what she termed as militarizing government institutions.

Speaking at Gathigia Primary School, the outspoken legislator said the recent move by the Head of State to place the Kenya Medical Supply Authority (KEMSA) under the Kenya Defense Forces shows a total disregard of the Constitution.

The MP said that she will be among those who will protect the Kenyan Constitution by moving to court to overturn President Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision.

Kandara MP Alice Wahome has threatened to sue President Uhuru Kenyatta for what she termed as militarizing government institutions.

“I am one person who believes that law must be followed, and I will be coming to court next week to oppose this move,” she said.

Wahome, a close ally of Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto stated that Kenya is a civilian government and the military should not be involved in managing any other docket other than the defense department.

The Kandara MP further claimed president Uhuru appears to have a hidden agenda to militarize the government ahead of the 2022 General Election, terming it as a dangerous move.

“It started by having General Badi to run the Nairobi Metropolitan, and he was also allowed to sit in the cabinet, the Kenya Meat Commission is under the military and now KEMSA, this is not right,

“The role of the military is clearly outlined in the constitution, and they should not be engaged in any other business,” Wahome stated.

She warned that giving the military power to run various government institutions may trigger a desire for power, and this can be a recipe for chaos in the country.

Should the KDF mess up with the government agencies, she said, it will not be summoned to appear before parliament for questioning since the Constitution protects it (KDF).

KEMSA board had announced a significant restructuring as the medical procurement agency smarts off from corruption allegations.
