President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto shared an event for the first time in nearly three months.

The last time the two shared an event was on February 25, during a Cabinet session at State House in Nairobi.

The two met this morning again at the Parliaments building where the president led the 18th National prayer breakfast.

According to pictures shared by State House on Thursday, May 27, DP Ruto who was accompanied by speakers of both Houses and other Cabinet Secretaries were seen welcoming Uhuru at the Parliament. Photo: State House/Twitter.

The deputy president, who was accompanied by speakers of both Houses and other Cabinet Secretaries, was seen welcoming Uhuru at Parliament buildings.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta arrives at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi County for the 18th Annual National Prayer Breakfast co-hosted by the two Speakers of Kenya’s bicameral Parliament, Justin Muturi (National Assembly) and Kenneth Lusaka (Senate),” State House said through a social media statement.

The duo’s once enviable friendship witnessed from 2013 to some time after the 2017 elections has evidently waned and became a subject of many political discussions.

In a TV interview a month ago, Ruto publicly told admitted that his relationship with Uhuru had become shaky especially since the March 2018 handshake between the president and Uhuru Kenyatta.

Their meeting comes just days after NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua challenged the duo to resign and pave way for a by-election if they cannot work together.

Ruto was again locked out of an important function by State House on Tuesday, May 4, for the reception of newly sworn-in Tanzania President Suluhu Samia where Matiang’i and other Cabinet Secretaries flanked President Kenyatta.
