William Ruto asks IEBC to let Raila witness ballot papers printing

by Enock Ndayala
William Ruto has sensationally claimed that the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate, Raila Odinga is funded by corrupt people.

On Thursday, July 6, Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party flag bearer Raila Odinga asked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to fly its team to Greece to witness the printing of the presidential ballot papers.

Odinga also wanted his technical experts to inspect the processes of preparing the electronic voter register kits, in conjunction with IEBC’s technical team alongside those of Smartmatic International, the company that was contracted to supply election technology.

The former Prime Minister, who had earlier raised concerns of vote-rigging claims in favor of his biggest rival, William Ruto said the move was aimed at ensuring accountability and transparency.

In a move aimed at restoring confidence and trust in the Kenya electorate ahead of the General Election, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati announced that presidential candidates would be free to witness the whole exercise of ballot papers printing.

But speaking in Marsabit on Wednesday, July 6, William Ruto asked IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati to take Raila to Greece to witness the printing of ballot papers if that will make him happy.

The UDA presidential flag bearer exuded confidence that he will emerge victorious in the August 9, presidential election and urged his main challenger to campaign instead of spreading propaganda.

“I am asking IEBC to take the Kitendawili man (Raila Odinga) to see where the ballot papers are being printed, even if he wants his brother to be in charge of the election so long as the election is held on August 9 because Kenyans have decided to send him home,” Ruto said in reference to Raila Odinga.

Raila, who is giving his fifth and last presidential attempt, had alleged that there were plans to print two million more presidential ballot papers and sneak them to the country through the porous borders.
