William Ruto asks Raila Odinga to speak to him if he wants Mt Kenya votes

Deputy President William Ruto has asked Raila Odinga and other Presidential candidates seeking the Mt Kenya votes to go through him.

Speaking in Laikipia County on Saturday, October 9, Ruto said that he was the early bird and had already conquered the Mt Kenya votes.

“There are people who have realized today there is a mountain and are now looking for it on Google Maps. They should know that I call the shots here,” Ruto said.

Ruto said that he had established supremacy in the Mt Kenya region by launching development projects there long before Raila Odinga visited.

“I am welcoming them to the mountain but as they come, let them know that mlima ina wenyeji (Mt Kenya has its owners). When they were away, I made several tours to the region, we built roads and initiated other development projects,” he added.

In the rally, Ruto’s camp dismissed the meeting held between the Mount Kenya Foundations(MKF) leaders with Raila Odinga and the One Kenya Alliance principals.

“The tycoons are meeting in Nairobi to auction us. Let them stay with their money and wealth.

Ruto owns the votes in Mt Kenya region so let them continue with their meetings and bring the report to Ruto who has the people and they will make a decision,” said Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua.

This follows a meeting between Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka, Gideon Moi, Moses Wetangula, and the members of MKF.

While holding the meetings, MKF Vice Chair Titus Ibui said they were in search of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s preferred successor.

After holding the final meeting with OKA principals on October 7, the Mt Kenya tycoons said they will retreat to Limuru for further discussions, where they will come up with the name of the best presidential candidate to succeed Uhuru.
