William Ruto blames state for attack against his man Dennis Itumbi ‘we will defeat impunity’

Deputy President William Ruto has accused the government of masterminding an attack against his Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi.

In a statement made by the deputy president on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, Ruto sensationally claimed that blogger Dennis Itumbi was tortured by people who should be there to protect him.

“Spent time with Comrade DI (Dennis Itumbi) last evening (Tuesday), saw his heavily bandaged arm and legs, the result of torture by people who should have been there to protect him and us all,” William Ruto said in a Tweet.

Ruto who visited Itumbi and spent time with him at the Nairobi West Hospital further expressed optimism that the impunity will be defeated soon.

“They wanted to kill his spirit but DI is strong and in very high spirits though doctors say he will be confined to bed for a month,

“Like Denis, we all must be strong and know that in a few months we will defeat impunity, entitlement, kiburi na madharau and free our nation for good,” Ruto said.

This is the first time William Ruto has given his sentiment since Itumbi was abducted.

Itumbi went missing on Thursday, December 23, with reports indicating that he was abducted by four men after leaving a barbershop on Thindigua along Kiambu road.

Itumbi was later found on Friday, December 24, in a bad state and rushed to a hospital on Thika road before being transferred for specialized treatment.

This comes barely days after MPs affiliated with the TangaTanga faction condemned the incident saying those culpable must be brought to book.

“Itumbi has confirmed that his abductors took turns to beat him while warning him that the torture was revenge for his social media coverage of CS Fred Matiang’i, PS Karanja Kibicho, the Inspector-General of the Police Service Hillary Mutyambai, and DCI George Kinoti,” the MPs said in a statement read by Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika.
