William Ruto cannot be trusted, I have worked with him-Uhuru

President Uhuru Kenyatta has warned voters against electing his deputy William Ruto to succeed him as the country gears towards the 2022 presidential elections.

While addressing the larger Mt Kenya region in a live interview from State House, Nairobi on Sunday, August 7, President Uhuru said the UDA presidential candidate is unfit to be president.

With just hours to the much-anticipated polls, the Head of State urged the Kenyan voters not to be swayed by DP Ruto’s eloquence.

Uhuru who was speaking to his native Kikuyu residents said he had worked with the second in command and found that he is not only a liar but also of bad temper and thus cannot be trusted with the country’s top leadership.

“I want to urge you that do not to be cheated by Ruto’s eloquence. I have worked with him and have found that he is a person who is untrustworthy and of bad temper. He is not thus fit to lead this nation,” President Uhuru said.

Ruto who is seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta on a UDA party ticket will be facing off with Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party flag bearer Raila Odinga.

William Ruto and Raila Odinga are neck-and-neck in the presidential race which also features Roots Party leader, George Wajackoyah and Agano Party flag bearer David Waihiga.

While drumming up support for his handshake partner, Uhuru pleaded with Mt Kenya residents to back Raila Odinga whom he described as an “honest statesman.”

Uhuru who was in Nyeri earlier on exuded confidence that former prime Minister Raila Odinga will carry the day in the August 9, 2022, presidential contest.

“Believe me or not, the game will be won by Raila and Martha. Ensure you elect leaders under the Azimio coalition,” President Uhuru Kenyatta said in Nyeri as he officially opened the Mwai Kibaki Hospital.
