Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto has challenged the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka, Gideon Moi, and Moses Wetang’ula to name 2022 presidential candidate

Speaking in Nyamira town on Tuesday, November 2, the deputy president asked the OKA principals to get out of hotel boardrooms and name 2022 candidate.

“I am asking them to move with speed and identify their choice so that I can deal with him,” William Ruto said.

The presidential hopeful further said that Kenyan politics has been dominated by leaders who come from famous families stating that the 2022 presidential race would be a contest between political godfathers, dynasties, and hustlers.

The OKA principals who have been crisscrossing the country have indicated they will agree on one of them to run for the presidency in the next year’s General Election.

Speaking in Kakamega over the weekend, the principals announced that they had been working on a strategy to sell their agenda to Kenyans as well as a roadmap to unveil their 2022 presidential candidate.

Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya), and Gideon Moi (Kanu) are all eyeing the presidency with Mudavadi and Kalonzo appearing to be front runners.

Last month, the former vice president Musalia Mudavadi assured his Western Kenya supporters that he will fly the OKA flag in the 2022 presidential race if the region can register a sizeable number of new voters.

Mudavadi said the formulae to pick the OKA presidential flag bearer will depend on the number of voters each of the four principals would have registered in their respective strongholds.

“I appeal to Western Kenya to register as voters. If those who qualify register and support my candidature, don’t you think I will be the next president?” he posed.
