William Ruto’s motorcade was stoned on Wednesday, November 10 during his tour of Raila Odinga’s backyard. soon after his appreciation token to the man.

A middle-aged man from Migori county was acknowledged by Deputy President William Ruto with a token of appreciation after he caught the attention of the presidential candidate.

With the second in command campaigning for his 2022 presidential ambition a section of supporters is seen lifting one of their own up high on a wheelbarrow.

“Weka huyu mtu chini Pole Pole (let him climb down from the wheelbarrow now) Oya boss shika hii(Take this)” William Ruto said as he took the time to appreciate the man with an unknown amount of cash amid laughter and cheers from the watching crowd on Wednesday, October 2021.

This happened while Ruto was addressing residents of Migori county, during his 3-day tour in the Nyanza region.

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, which is heavily linked to the William Ruto, has a wheelbarrow as its logo and the unidentified man took the perfect time to get the DP’s attention by sitting on the wheelbarrow.

The Wheelbarrow is accompanied by ‘kazi ni kazi’ (loosely translated to any job goes) as a way of speaking to the ordinary Kenyan small trader and worker who struggles every day to make ends meet.

Ruto’s Nyanza rally ran into headwinds while in Kondele, after rowdy youths pelted stones at his motorcade, destroying some cars.

The action has since been condemned by politicians from across the political divide who called for tolerance as the country heads into a hot campaign season ahead of the 2022 General Election.

The deputy president has since blamed the violence on his main rival in the presidential race, Raila Odinga who is also the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement, Kenya’s oldest opposition party.

ODM enjoys a cult-like following in the larger Luo-Nyanza region with Kondele being famous for political violence, especially against politicians considered enemies of Raila Odinga.
