Deputy President William Ruto has revealed that he makes KSh 1.5 Million daily from selling eggs a day after details of his wealth were made public.

While responding to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’I’s actions to expose his property and wealth, the deputy president said important details had been left out.

William Ruto, who boasts of rising the economic ladder from poultry farming, said Matiangi forgot to mention the number of chickens he has and their production egg production capacity per day..

“I saw they wrote the acreage, they would have said I have 200,000 chicken. They would say ‘this person sells 150,000 eggs per day, making KSh 1.5 Million every day,” Ruto said while addressing grassroots political leaders from Nakuru county.

In a satirical response to Matiang’I, Ruto also revealed that the interior CS did not exhaust all the properties the deputy president owns while appearing before a parliamentary committee.

“They also forgot to add that I have 400,000 shares in (Kenya’s leading telecommunication company) Safaricom. They would have also revealed if there are police officers guarding those shares.

“They would have gone to the bank to know how much money I have, and the loan and how much I have to repay monthly,” he said.

According to Ruto, Matiang’i helped him in conducting a lifestyle audit but was not accurate since only 70% of the mentioned property belongs to him (Ruto).

He challenged Matiang’i to continue with the same trend, and conduct lifestyle audits on other public leaders too.

While appearing before a parliamentary committee on Wednesday, Matiang’i tabled a list of William Ruto’s property and the number of police officers guarding them.

In his presentation, Matiang’I said that the DP enjoys a total of 257 Security officers, spread across his properties and business premises.

The premises listed include;

  1. 1,537 acres Meta Farm in Taita Taveta owned
  2. 395-hectare Murumbi Farm in Transmara Narok
  3. 6,073- hectare ADC Laikipia Mutara Ranch.
  4. Dolphin Hotel in Mombasa county
  5. Private residence in Eldoret’s Elgon View
  6. Koitalel Poultry Farm in Eldoret
  7. private residence in Kosachei Eldoret
  8. Two hangars with five helicopters at Wilson Airport

He was responding to accusations of putting DP William Ruto’s life at risk after making changes in the security personnel guarding his homes.
