Deputy President William Ruto has expressed confidence that he will beat Raila Odinga in the 2022 State House battle.
Speaking in Meru County on Tuesday, November 16, Ruto said that the ODM leader is no match for him and he will defeat him early in the morning on the elections day.
He further dared his opponents to front another presidential candidate who is more competitive because he will beat Raila Odinga without a struggle.
“Ati mtu tunashindana na yeye ni huyu mtu wa kitendawili…si huyu tutamnyorosha asubuhi na mapema? Ata wangetafuta mwingine lakini huyu, huyu ni mapema. (I am supposed to battle with this guy known for parables(Raila Odinga)? … I will beat him early in the morning. They would have looked for someone else.),” he said.
Ruto expressed confidence in defeating Raila Odinga since he jointly defeated him in the 2013 and 2017 polls when he was President Uhuru’s running mate.
He said that the script will be the same in the 2022 General Election.
He argued that he is the only politician who stood with Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2017 and 2013 polls.
“Siku ile Uhuru Kenyatta alikua anatafuta mtu wa kusimama na yeye wakati alikua anataka kiti ya rais aongoze Kenya yetu, mtu wa kitendawili alisimama na yeye? Mtu ya kati kati yule watermelon alisimamama na yeye? Hawa wengine wa cellulac walisimama na yeye? Si mimi nilisimama na yeye?
(When Uhuru Kenyatta was looking for someone to contest with him for the presidency, did Raila stand with him? Did Kalonzo Musyoka stand with him? Did these other cerelac coalition guys (Musalia Mudavadi, Mses Wetangula, and Gideon Moi) stand with him?) Ruto posed.
In the region, the UDA party leader warned residents against accepting Raila Odinga to be imposed on them.
He described Raila as a destructive man who ca not be trusted to lead the country.
