William Ruto’s man wins MP seat in President Uhuru’s constituency

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared ruto man, Gabriel Kagombe, the new Member of Parliament elect for Gatundu South Constituency.

Kagombe of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a party heavily linked to Deputy President William Ruto was on Thursday, August 11, declared the winner after he garnered 17, 815 votes.

Njinji Murigi, who was seeking to be President Uhuru Kenyatta’s representative in the National Assembly on an Independent ticket, emerged second with 15,417 votes.

Joyce Ngugi of the Jubilee party, a party associated with president Uhuru, came to a distance forth after scooping only 5, 806 votes in the contest.

In her campaigns, the Jubilee party candidate pleaded with Gatundu South voters not to shame the Head of State by voting for her.

“I humbly ask you not to shame our President. He is the one we know and I beg you to vote for his preferred team of Jubilee leaders,

“Please don’t waste your votes by voting for those insulting others. I have been looking for this position, and I know we will now bring it to Kiganjo,” she said.

Kagombe will now take over from the incumbent MP Moses Kuria of the Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) who had vied for the Kiambu gubernatorial seat but has since conceded.

besides his man beating Jubilee candidate in Gatundu south, William Ruto further beat Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party Raila Odinga to the presidential vote in the constituency.

Ruto garnered 41,712 votes while President Uhuru Kenyatta’s handshake partner managed 12,290 votes.

President Uhuru endorsed William Ruto’s bitter rival (Raila Odinga) after the two fell out following the March 2018 truce between the president and the former Prime Minister.
