Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto has vowed to kick out brokers who are fond of exploiting entrepreneurs should he win the 2022 elections.

“But they must also be protected from cartels and brokers especially in the agricultural sector,” William Ruto said in a Tweet.

The former Agriculture CS on Wednesday, December 15, said it is time the country should try new approaches in solving some critical challenges the hustlers have been facing over time.

“We cannot keep recycling the same economic ideas that have not brought us results in the past,” Ruto said.

It is understood that for years, brokers have been buying agricultural produce from small and medium-sized farmers at a throw-away price and selling the same products at exorbitant prices.

The deputy president who was in Kakamega County to popularise his Bottom-Up economic model ahead of his titanic battle with ODM leader Raila Odinga challenged One Kenya Alliance principals Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya) and his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi to join the hustlers and help uplift the lives of farmers in their region.

Ruto who was addressing a rally in Kakamega County on Wednesday, December 15, further took a swipe at the Mt Kenya Foundation group for endorsing his 2022 main challenger Raila Odinga.

He accused the group of playing capitalistic kind of ideologies by putting their wealth together to bring someone who will protect their businesses.

“They (Mt Kenya billionaires) took Musalia Mudavadi there to conduct an interview on him, then they did not even call him to give him the results,” Ruto said.
