William Ruto: Raila, Moi and ex-NASA principals using Uhuru

by Nderi Caren

Deputy President William Ruto has accused Raila Odinga, Gideon Moi and other ex-NASA co-principals of using President Uhuru Kenyatta for their selfish gains.

During a meeting with grassroots leaders from Ruiru on Thursday, August 12, Ruto said the ex-NASA principals are running to Uhuru for endorsements yet they have never supported him.

“Those six men have never voted for Uhuru Kenyatta. They have never even supported him to fulfill the pledges he made to Kenyans. They went to meet him (in State House Mombasa) over their own selfish agenda,” Wiliam Ruto said.

He accused the ex-NASA members of only using President Uhuru for their individual agendas and to secure seats in the oncoming elections.

“They want power and positions. They want to use the office which we helped the president to get so that they can fight with us. Should we not just leave these people to God,” he added.

The second in command also termed their planned coalition as a tribal outfit.

“They must first dismantle their ethnic-based parties and form a national outfit the way we have done it,” he went on.

DP Ruto was reacting to a recent meeting by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga (ODM), Gideon Moi (KANU), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya), and Wycliffe Oparanya(ODM).

In the group, Kalonzo, Raila, and Musalia Mudavadi have once contested for the top seat either as the flag bearers or the running mates.

Yet, none of them has ever supported President Uhuru Kenyatta but rather worked with the camps opposing him.

However, after the March 2018 handshake, Raila Odinga has become close to President Uhuru more tha ever before..

From the August, 10 meeting at State House Mombasa, it has been revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta prefers Raila Odinga to be his successor.

He urged the ex-NASA leaders to unite and deny DP William Ruto a winning chance.
