Political analyst Daniel Orogo has said that President William Ruto is grooming Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi to be his running mate in the 2027 elections.

Deputy President William Ruto has said that anyone can be the presidential candidate in his new-foiund political partnership with ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula.

Addressing jubilant supporters in Nakuru on Wednesday, January 26, the DP, who was accompanied by the former One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals, said their political deal with Mudavadi and Wetang’ula is aimed at liberating the country.

The deputy president said everyone in the Kenya Kwanza alliance is qualified for the top job adding that none of them is power-hungry as it is in their rival political camps.

“Anyone in our alliance can be president, anyone in the coalition is capable of steering the team to State House…hatujakuja hapa kwa sababu ya ubinafsi, hatujakuja kwa sababu ya mamlaka…tumekuja pamoja ili tuokoe Kenya (We joined hands not because of our selfish interests or to ascend to power but to save Kenya),

“Alice Wahome can lead Kenya, Rigathi Gachagua, Moses Wetangula, Musalia or myself can lead Kenya,

“What’s important is not who will take the mantle but improving the lives of Kenyans,” Ruto said during their second rally with his newfound allies.

On Sunday, January 23, the deputy president teamed up with Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang’ula in an ‘earth-shaking’ declaration.

Wetang’ula who recently dropped his presidential ambitions in favour of William Ruto would mean that Mudavadi will battle it out with the deputy president for the presidential ticket.

The other politician in Ruto’s camp have not expressed interest to fly the presidential flag, leaving out one option; William Ruto or Musalia Mudavadi.

This was after Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC party maintained that he will go all the way to the ballot as its flag bearer to face other contestants including William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

“At the National Delegates meeting last weekend, our party leader was given the mandate to look for friends to partner in the journey to State House. Let it be known that as a party, we have agreed that Mudavadi is going for nothing less than the presidency,” Emuhaya MP Omboko Milemba said.
