President William Ruto has appointed COTU boss Francis Atwoli’s eldest son Lukoye Atwoli to a lucrative job in new appointments.

Deputy President William Ruto has castigated COTU boss Francis Atwoli for claiming that he might resort to suicide after losing the upcoming presidential election to Raila Odinga.

The vocal unionist who was speaking during the rollout of the Universal Health Coverage program at Port Reitz Sub County Hospital in Mombasa on Monday, February 7, said William Ruto might resort to suicide upon defeat.

“Wale wako karibu na William Samoei Ruto kule sehemu za Sugoi wakate miti isiwe karibu kwa ajili tarehe 9 usiku, kura itatangazwa na huyo mtoto (William Ruto) atajinyonga, wakate miti!( Those around William Ruto’s Sugoi home should ensure there are no trees nearby because, on August 9, he might just commit suicide upon losing the presidential election)” Atwoli said.

But in a statement on Tuesday, February 8, William Ruto condemned the remarks as dehumanizing and distasteful attempts at humor, saying that suicide is a serious issue affecting Kenyans.

“… to use suicide as humor in electioneering, at a national health function attended by the Health Cabinet Secretary and presided by the Head of State and consequently finding it funny, is a demonstration of just how far these elite are from the realities and struggles of the Kenyan Hustler,” Ruto said through the statement seen by Kivumbi.co.ke.

Hussein further dismissed Atwoli’s allegations that the Azimio La Umoja camp was sure to win the State House race stating that winning and losing are two sides of the same coin and are both integral to realizing the democratic ideals that we aspire to.

“Since the UDA party leader William Ruto is confident of a win in the 2022 presidential election, the usual sore losers want to take us down this path, where winning and losing becomes a life and death affair and consequently turn down to what they know best, stirring emotions to cause violence and prepare the stage to reject the will of Kenyans,’’ he said.

Atwoli however has told off William Ruto’s Director of Communication telling him to address him correctly if he wants to help Juda.

“Somebody should tell Hussein Muhamed that I am COTU(K), Secretary-General I have an office and I have no office in Azimio. He should address me correctly if he’s to help JUDA,” Atwoli said.
