William Ruto reveals how UDA is his backup political party

Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto has insisted he will be on the ballot in the much-awaited 2022 General Election despite opposition from shadowy state operatives keen on frustrating him.

The Jubilee deputy party leader maintained that he will vie for the top seat whether or not the ruling party Jubilee will hand him a nomination certificate or not.

“Some team, a cabal of sorts, came up with the stop-Ruto movement” and tried to humiliate me, Ruto said in a recent interview on Citizen TV, referring to opponents within the ruling party. “In the event that Jubilee is not available, the next best option is the United Democratic Alliance(UDA).”

The former Eldoret North Member of Parliament further ascertained that his relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta has been fading since the politics of handshake between Jubilee party leader and the opposition chief Raila Odinga in March 2018.

Already, Ruto’s key allies in both Senate and the National Assembly have been sidelined over the past few months, a clear indicator of the tensions within Uhuru’s led party.

The former Agriculture Minister backed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s two previous presidential campaigns and his cohorts expected that in return he would be next in line for the country’s top job.

Rumour has it that the deep state prefers the One Kenya Alliance pair of Baringo senator Gideon Moi and the Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi to take over from the retiring Uhuru Kenyatta. Photo: Kalonzo Musyoka/Facebook.

This comes at a time when the Kenya’s power brokers are rumored to be angling for what is considered safe pair of hands to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta in the forthcoming General Election.

Kivumbi.co.ke gossip recently reported that the deep state prefers the One Kenya Alliance duo of Gideon Moi and Musalia Mudavadi to take over from the retiring Uhuru.

“Either Gideon or Mudavadi is the proffered next president and the deep state will stop at nothing to actualize this. It is clear they are a safer pair of hands compared to William Ruto,” a source familiar with the matter revealed to Kivumbi.co.ke.
