“I want a running mate who understands the metrics of the party, appreciates the load we have to carry, and has knowledge on what the job entails. It is not an individual decision but I will have the final say,” William Ruto said.

According to Ruto, the position is currently open to everyone including young people, women, and men but the best will be chosen.

The deputy president however said he will have a final say on who will be his running mate adding that there will be consultations made on who will qualify for the position.

Ruto’s declaration comes amid speculations of political analysts who claim that for him to get a slice of the vote-rich Mt Kenya region; he has to choose a running mate from the region.

With less than 8 months to the General Elections, Deputy President William Ruto has identified Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua as his possible running mate in the 2022 State House race.

The billionaire politician got the attention of William Ruto due to his financial muscle, loyalty, and ability to attract crowds.

“I want to ask you for one favour, allow Kanda ya Wira (Rigathi Gachagua) Gachagua to accompany me to other parts of the country so that we can be able to win this seat. Free him so that he can engage in national politics,” William Ruto pursued Nyeri residents in a clear indication that he will consider Gachagua for the running mate position.
