Kenyan man claims William Ruto stole the ‘bottom-up economic model’ from him

A businessman has sued Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto for using the ‘Bottom-up economic model.’

According to court documents filed on Tuesday, November 16, Jacob Muting’a Kioko wants the court to stop all government officials and politicians from using the Bottom-up economic model.

Kioko, who is also the innovator of Dichotomous Universal Grown Web Innovation (DUGWI) claims the use of the slogan infringes on his intellectual property rights.

Kioko argues that he launched the Bottom-up in 2013 and presented it to top government officials, who refused to implement it, and allegedly stole it from him, and decided to use it as a means to woo voters.

“I wrote to the five top government officers, the President his Deputy, CS Ministry of Industrialization, the Speaker National Assembly and the Attorney General to adopt my proposed economic structure without success,” he said.

The innovator now wants the High Court to order that he be compensated for the use of the slogan.

Kioko now wants the High Court to bar any government officials from using the model for their own benefits stating that its initial purpose was to promote the goals of DUGWI innovation.

“I urge this court to stop the government from using the term BOTTOM Up economy as a political gimmick, slogan, or for any other purpose by any parties besides the innovator’s intended purpose of promoting the goals of the DUGWI innovation,” Kioko noted.

The deputy president has been popularizing the Bottom-up economic model ahead of his titanic battle with ODM leader Raila Odinga who is using the ‘Azimio la Umoja.’

While the deputy president says the bottom-up approach model will seek to change the approach applied to the economy of the country as a way of involving all Kenyans across all kinds of businesses in the country, no one understands how the economic model should work.
