There was a massive transfer on Wednesday, November 3 after more than 100 UDA supporters defected to Raila Odinga’s ODM camp.

The group comprising of youth and grassroots leaders met Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati and his Kitutu Chache South counterpart Richard Onyonka who welcomed them to the party.

Dressed in ODM T-shirts and caps, the youths pledged to support Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja, and also the two MPs who are seeking the Kisii gubernatorial and Senatorial seats.

While receiving the new members of Raila Odinga’s ODM camp, Simba Arati criticized William Ruto for calling himself a hustler while he owns multimillion properties.

“I have a vehicle worth over Sh10 million and I cannot call myself a hustler. But those advancing the hustler narrative want us to believe that they are poor yet they own property worth millions and billions of shillings,” Mr Arati said.

The defections comes a day after William Ruto’s tour to the Kisii region to gain the support from voters who have for a long time been supporting Raila Odinga.

During his tour in the region, DP Willliam Ruto was elated to come across a hotel named after his campaign slogan; Bottom up hotel.

He took a meal in the hotel, leaving the owner with KSh 100,000 to upgrade her business.

The defection of William Ruto’s supporters to ODM comes at a time when political migrations are at its peak.

However, Ruto has been the beneficiary of huge political migrations, with his recent guest being Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.

The exit of Waiguru from Jubilee Party has prompted other President Uhuru supporters like Ngujiri Wambugu to give hints on following the political wave.

The Nyeri town MP has been giving hints of joining William Ruto’s camp, saying that the ground in Mt Kenya has shifted.
