William Ruto tells off sons of former presidents. ‘We voted for your fathers’

Deputy President William Ruto has called out on the sons of Kenya’s former president asking them not to impose leaders on Kenyans ahead of the highly anticipated August 2022 presidential election.

Ruto who was speaking on Tuesday, January 4, during his tour of Western Kenya to campaign for his presidential bid, said time is up for new crop of leaders.
“I want to tell you that you have used as for too long. We voted for your fathers and knelt down for them. Again we have voted for you and you still want us to kneel and beg you?,

“(You also want us to) vote for you and your kids…We will end your arrogance this year. Kenya is for all of us and not specific individuals,” Ruto told a charged crowd.

The Deputy President has strategically built his presidential campaign messaging around a fight between the rich vs the poor, the big and known political families vs the ordinary Kenyan.

His Kakamega speech could well have been directed at President Uhuru Kenyata whose father was Kenya’s first president between 1963 and 1978.

The statement could also have been directed at KANU chairman Gideon Moi whose late father was Kenya’s longest-serving president between 1978- 2002.

Together with ODM leader Raila Odinga, William Ruto has branded the duo, dynasties, or simply rich political families who are out to cling to power at the expense of ordinary Kenyans.

What’s more? William Rruto’s camp has been advancing the narrative that Raila Odinga is a project by dynasties who want to handpick a president for Kenyans.

In the Kakamega rally, Ruto also claimed that Raila is being used to change the constitution and create positions for top politicians instead of serving ordinary Kenyans.

He insisted that the youths need to be employed and not given the handouts as Raila has promised to be giving them Ksh 6,000 once he ascends into power.

“Youths need to be employed and that is why am saying we will set one billion into housing, Agro-processing, Value addition, and Manufacturing to get our youths employed,” said Ruto.
