by Enock Ndayala

Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto has formally written to ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang’ula over the 2022 pre-election pact.

UDA secretary-general Veronica Maina on Monday, December 3, told the Daily Nation that the two One Kenya Alliance co-principals have been invited for a pre-election pact.

“In case they accept it, we will listen to them because, as UDA, we are a democratic party that does not give demands. Yes, anyone who wants to support us has to join UDA, but we will listen to ANC and Ford Kenya,” he said.

Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto has formally written to ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang’ula over the 2022 pre-election pact.

Maina said the revamped outfit was awaiting a response from the two former National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders who were allied to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in the 2013 and 2017 polls.

Last week, the deputy president hinted he was pursuing the former Vice president and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula so that they could join forces to scuttle ODM leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.

Ruto who was speaking on Friday, December 31, at the Mumias Sports Complex in Kakamega County during a football tournament organized by area senator Cleophas Malala, said he prefers working with the duo in the vote-rich Western region in the upcoming elections.

He said unlike other leaders allied to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja, the deputy president said the One Kenya Alliance co-principals are not political brokers.

“(Musalia) Mudavadi and (Moses) Wetang’ula are the only legitimate leaders of the Mulembe nation and as a community, you should support them. Tell them they should join the ‘hustler’ nation so that we can form the next government together,

“I will speak with Mudavadi so that we can form the next government comes 2022,” William Ruto said during his impromptu visit to the Stadium.
