William Ruto’s camp on how President Uhuru intends to rig elections in favor of Raila

by Enock Ndayala

Leaders of the yet-to-be registered Kenya Kwanza Coalition have alleged that there is a plot to use administrators to rig the August 9, presidential elections in favor of ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking on Monday, March 7, in Mathira, Mukurweini, and Kieni constituencies where they launched several development programs and campaigned for Kenya Kwanza Alliance, the leaders accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of using the Interior ministry to advance a certain political agenda.

Led by Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula, MPs Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), Kithure Kindiki (Tharaka Nithi), Isaac Mwaura (Nominated), Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu) and Cate Waruguru (Laikipia) alongside UDA chairperson Johnson Muthama, the leaders revealed that Interior PS Karanja Kibicho last month asked administrators to campaign for President Uhuru’s handshake partner Raila Odinga.

Leaders of the yet-to-be registered Kenya Kwanza Coalition have alleged that there is a plot to use administrators to rig the August 9, presidential elections in favor of ODM leader Raila Odinga.

They claimed that the National Government Administration Office had been instructed, through a circular, to form a multi-sectoral election preparedness team to popularize former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.

“(Interior PS Karanja) Kibicho in a letter dated February 23, asked all County Commissioners, Deputy County Commissioners, Chiefs, and the Assistants to form Regional County and sub-county multi-sectoral election preparedness forums,” said Kithure Kindiki who warned Kibicho that forming such forums will land him in trouble.

“And I want to tell Kibicho and his team, you have no basis under the law of Kenya to give any instructions or to try and assess the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to do its job,” Kindiki said.

On his part, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula warned state officers that they would be held liable if they participate in the meetings.

“You [Kibicho] will find yourself in trouble. You are intruding into the IEBC mandate. Your letter to public servants last month is illegal,” Wetang’ula who is one of the principals in the Kenya Kwanza coalition said.
