by Enock Ndayala

As the Jubilee government marks its final Mashujaa Day in office, Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto has assured President Uhuru Kenyatta that the country will be in safer hands should the hustler nation form the next government.

Speaking at the Wang’uru stadium in Kirinyaga County during the 58th Madaraka Day celebrations, the deputy president promised Uhuru that he will secure his legacy with the Bottom-Up approach system.

“As your deputy for the last 9 years, God willing, I assure you that the agenda you have set of the unity of this nation, big 4 agenda together with the bottom-up plan will take this country to greater heights,” William Ruto said.

As the Jubilee government marks its final Mashujaa Day in office, Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto has assured President Uhuru Kenyatta that the country will be in safer hands should the hustler nation form the next government.

To the surprise of many, the deputy president deviated from his regular attacks on the President and instead praised his work, promising to keep his legacy of uniting the country should he take over as the next president.

Kirinyaga played host to the country’s top three politicians amid rising political temperatures barely months to the 2022 General Election.

Ruto who had not seen eye to eye with his boss since June 1 Madaraka Day celebrations met together with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

His sentiments come barely a day after the deputy president said he feels betrayed with his party leader Uhuru Kenyatta as he appears to have settled on his handshake partner Raila Odinga to succeed him.

He wondered why the person he helped win the 2013 and 2017 presidential elections has gone to the opposition to look for his successor.

“I don’t regret having assisted President Kenyatta in clinching the seat in 2013 and 2017. I had expected him to see my abilities and support me in the next polls, only for him to seek the services of other people,” William Ruto said.
