by Amos Khaemba

Deputy President William Ruto’s wife Rachel Ruto on Thursday, January 20, for the first time in many years, hit the campaign trail with a rally in Nakuru County.

Rachel, who had pitched tent in Kuresoi South meeting women groups, was accompanied by Nakuru County Woman Representative Lisa Chelule and Kuresoi South MP Joseph Tanui.

After her empowerment program, the spouse to the Deputy President along with other politicians made a grand entry at Keringet where residents had gathered in large numbers to welcome her.

“Glad to interact with residents and women at Keringet, Nakuru county accompanied by Lisa Chelule (Nakuru County), and Joseph Tanui (Kuresoi South). Acknowledged greetings from residents of Keringet, Kuresoi South, Nakuru County,” Rachel tweeted.

The DP’s wife addressed the residents from the sunroof of her vehicle, where she used the opportunity to drum up support forrr her husband who is eyeing the presidency in the August 9, polls.

On her part, the Nakuru County Woman Rep called about women to support the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party saying its hustler economic model will be beneficial in uplifting the lives of many Kenyans.

“Women in Kenya contribute significantly to the economy of the country both directly and indirectly and therefore stir up the economy. This has been well gathered for at our famous bottom-up economic approach,” Chelule said.

Apart from meeting women in groups through the Joyful Women Organization, Rachel Ruto is hardly seen in public campaigning or accompanying DP Ruto to public rallies.
