Willian Ruto blasts President Uhuru for criticizing pastors.

by Amos Khaemba

Deputy President William Ruto has blasted President Uhuru Kenyatta for criticizing pastors over donations by politicians.

Speaking in Nyeri today, Saturday, February 26, the second in command called on the president to respect the church saying they play an important part in society.

“Some people are bothering themselves saying we are carrying bibles; I want to ask Azimio to respect us and forgive us because we haven’t started carrying the bible yesterday. It is because of that bible we are where we are today and we shall reach our destination,” Ruto said.

The second in command urged the Azimio la Umoja team to desist from abusing the church leadership, telling them to instead sell their agenda to Kenyans.

“We want to ask our competitors respectively, please let us not say things about the church, let us not say things about men of God. We have come far because this nation belongs to God,” the deputy president added.

DP Ruto further emphasized that the August 9 presidential election will be between him and the ODM leader Raila Odinga and not against President Uhuru Kenyatta as its being projected.

The Kenya Kwanza leader hit out at those opposed to him taking credit for Jubilee administration success, saying they contributed nothing to its formation.

“Even when they call us cons, we are the reason Uhuru Kenyatta is president today,” DP Ruto remarked.

The sentiments by DP Ruto come two days after President Uhuru castigated the church of being the beneficiary of corrupt money.

Speaking at Sagana State Lodge in a meeting dubbed Sagana 3, in an apparent attack at DP Ruto, President Uhuru warned that those who have been using money meant for dams will go to hell.

“Even when church leaders should stop telling lies to our people. Let us tell the truth, you are being given 3 billion meant for Kimwarer and Arror dams meant for children of God, then you come to mislead us,” President Uhuru had said.
