Supporters of William Ruto from Githurai are now demanding KSh 2 million campaign promise he made during a recent rally in the area.

Speaking to the media on Friday, January 7, the supporters of the deputy president had vowed to donate KSh1 million to market traders and another KSh1 million to transport operators to boost their businesses.

The hustlers through their representative said they were mobilized by nominated MP Isaac Mwaura who was in charge of the said cash.

Supporters of William Ruto from Githurai are now demanding KSh 2 million campaign promise he made during a recent rally in the area.

However, Since September 5, 2021, the beneficiaries to be are yet to get their share, a move they say has caused internal wrangles within the groups after members started suspecting one another.

“We want everyone from Githurai Business Community to understand what has happened. Nominated Senator Mwaura was the one in charge of the delegation. He came picked people here and took them to Karen. The DP promised Ksh2 million to the business community,

“I have tried getting to him because down here on the ground it has been very difficult to us leaders because everybody keeps saying we were given the money and shared it amongst ourselves. Others are accusing us of getting wheelbarrows and selling them,” they said.

The hustlers now want the presidential hopeful to come clean and state whether the second in command fulfilled the pledge he made or not.

During his visit to Meru County to popularise his presidential bid in September 2021, mama mboga and Bodaboda operators in Tigania clashed over William Ruto’s KSh 600k donation.

Chaos erupted after one of the groups claimed that the deputy president had released the cash while another faction maintained that William Ruto did not release the funds to the groups.

A similar scenario was witnessed in Kakamega County in October 2021, where supporters of William Ruto accused former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale of vanishing with their kitty.
