Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto has said he will guarantee President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga their security should he become president in 2022.

Addressing a rally in Migori County, the deputy president dispelled fears that he would revenge against the President and his handshake counterpart whom he has accused of frustrating his presidential journey.

“If you vote me and I win, I will take care of them without bias. I will ensure they have adequate protection,

“I will protect them by ensuring they have several security officers assigned to them so that they can move around and conduct their businesses freely without their security being compromised,” the deputy president said.

According to Ruto, President Uhuru Kenyatta wants former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to take over the reins of leadership when he retires so that he can be safe under his government.

Ruto lamented that the recent change to his security team last month was a well-orchestrated scheme by president Uhuru to scuttle his 2022 State House bid.

The former Agriculture Minister further said that even though Uhuru and Raila had ganged up against him, he was confident that millions of Kenyan hustlers were ready to support his 2022 presidential ambition.

“They have ill motives for me. They are planning to stop us from seeking the presidency. Today, as we speak, they have formed an alliance of seven people but I have no problem with that because the people will decide who their president becomes,” he added.

The deputy president said it was so unfair for the two to gang up against him yet he was the one who helped Raila become a Prime Minister after the heated 2007 General Election and helped Uhuru become President in 2013 and 2017 respectively.

“You are all aware that I campaigned for Baba (Raila) and vigorously pushed his agenda in 2007. I ensured he became Prime Minister,

“In 2013 and 2017 I also campaigned for Uhuru. They have now joined hands to ensure I am locked out of the 2022 race. They have unveiled a gang,” he said.
