Wiper insists Kalonzo must deputise Raila ‘No Kalonzo No Raila’

by Enock Ndayala
The Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has given the clearest hint of working with the ODM leader Raila Odinga in the coming August 9, General Election.

The Wiper party is now demanding that former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka be named ODM leader Raila Odinga’s running mate in this year’s elections.

Makueni MP Dan Maanzo said as the Wiper party will rally voters to skip the presidential vote if Kalonzo Musyoka’s name does not appear on the ballot.

“Our position as the Wiper party is that the deputy president should be from our party and should be one Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka and at the moment that does not happen, we’ve already started sensitizing our followers that we shall only vote for the Azimio presidential candidate if our party leader appears in the ballot paper.

“At the moment that doesn’t happen, our voters are aware that once they don’t see Kalonzo’s name on the ballot as the deputy president, then we are saying ‘No Kalonzo No Raila’,” Maanzo told the Standard.

On his part, Wiper Deputy Vice Chairperson Mutula Kilonzo said the party will demand explanations should the Wiper leader not be named as Raila’s running mate.

“The minute Kalonzo agreed to join Azimio and forfeit his ambitions. We believed that ideally, he negotiated for the deputy president so that then you deal with his constituents. Now in the absence of a deputy president then we have to be an explanation,

“That explanation is not forthcoming and delays in making the decision, either way, is very jittery,” he added.

Speaking on Sunday, April 17, at Liberty Redeemed Gospel Church in South B, the former vice president claimed some people are conspiring round the clock to lock him out of the number two post.

“They are busy conspiring who will be running mate and who will not be running mate. Please help them to change and know that what God has determined no human being will stop it,” Kalonzo said.

He exuded confidence that the will of God will prevail and he will be Raila’s running mate just like in 2013 and 2017.
