Wiper MP: Raila Odinga has not personally asked Kalonzo Musyoka to be his running mate

by Nderi Caren

Matungulu legislator Stephen Mule, who is a Wiper MP has wondered why there are suggestions for Kalonzo Musyoka to support Raila Odinga for 2022 presidency yet the ODM leader himself has never made such a request in person.

The legislator further said Raila Odinga has not even made clear his intentions to vie for the presidency in 2022 like Kalonzo, Musalia Mudavadi, Willliam Ruto, and the rest have done.

“If we decide to support someone, we will support him with all our body, soul, mind and wealth. This time we have not been asked by anyone, even Raila (Odinga) himself,” the Wiper MP said.

Other than the clarification from the Wiper MP, the members of One Kenya Alliance(OKA) have denied reports that President Uhuru Kenyatta prefers Raila Odinga as his successor.

“William Ruto has said he will be on the ballot, Kalonzo too, so how will we support someone who has not declared? That is propaganda,” he said.

Other than the clarification from the Wiper MP, the members of One Kenya Alliance(OKA) have denied reports that President Uhuru Kenyatta prefers Raila Odinga as his successor.

In a joint press statement, the OKA members said that their recent meeting with the President and Raila Odinga at State House centred around matters of national importance.

“We hereby state categorically that our visits to State House aren’t summonses to browbeat us into supporting one candidate or the other, as the distorted Nation (newspaper) narratives suggest. These have been very cordial consultative meetings deliberating on national matters,” read part of the statement as seen by Kivumbi.co.ke.

Raila Odinga and the OKA principals held their first consultative meeting with Uhuru on August 10.

After the meeting, it emerged that the Head of State asked the One Kenya Alliance leaders to abandon their presidential ambitions and support Raila Odinga.

A week later, the One Kenya Alliance members held a retreat in Naivasha, where they declared that their coalition will be fielding a presidential candidate in the oncoming elections.
