Youthful politician tortured to death after visiting William Ruto

by Amos Khaemba

A youthful politician allied to United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party was last month abducted and tortured to death shortly after visiting Deputy President William Ruto.

Lang’ata MP Nixon Korir took to social media on February 25 to accuse police officers saying they were behind the abduction of Joseph Ochieng whose body was found dumped in a river in Nyeri.

“Joseph Ochieng’g aka Obude was picked by people claiming to be police on February 19, 2022 in Dagoretti. He’s is among the youth who had come out to support the hustler movement despite a lot of intimidations and threats in Dagoreti North. Obude’s body was found yesterday in a Nyeri mortuary,” Korir wrote on his Facebook page.

“It is very unfortunate that someone has to die for taking a political position which is his democratic right. Extrajudicial killings must stop. Rest in peace Obude,” Korir added.

Reports indicate that the late Odude, who recently visited DP Ruto at his Karen residence had expressed fears about his life.

His mother Selina Atieno also pointed a finger at police officers saying their actions showed all along they knew where his son’s body was.

“It was quite clear the police knew his whereabouts and were not keen on investigating,” she said.

“It is painful that I have lost a dear son. But I am glad that the body was found and I can give him a decent send-off. I fear for my life and will not pursue the matter with the authorities,” she added.

Police have however denied reports that he was abducted by officers and said they have launched investigations.
