Uganda President Yoweri Museveni’s son Muhoozi Kainerugaba has struggled to understand why retired President Uhuru Kenyatta did not vie for the presidency for the third time.

In a statement on Monday, October 3, Kainerugaba, who is the first borne son to Uganda’s longest serving Head of State, said Uhuru would have won had he vied for the presidency in the August 9, elections.

“My only problem with my beloved big brother is that he didn’t stand for a third term. We would have won easily,” he said.

According to the Constitution of Kenya 2010, “A person shall not hold office as President for more than two terms,” where each term has five years.

In what appeared like Kainerugaba did not want Uhuru to retire, the commander of the land forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Force further wondered why kenya judiciously adhered to its constitution.

“I love my Kenyan relatives. Constitution? Rule of Law?  You must be joking. For us, there is only the Revolution and you will soon learn about it,” he said.

The 48-year-old close friend of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta further said it would take him and his army a maximum of two weeks to capture Nairobi.

“It wouldn’t take us, my army and me, two weeks to capture Nairobi,” he added.

While referring to the Jubilee Party leader as his big brother, Kainerugaba disclosed that President William Ruto’s predecessor will soon visit their country Uganda.

“Just spoke to my big brother, Afande Uhuru. An incredible man. I love him for his courage, honesty, and intelligence. He will visit Uganda soon,” Kainerugaba said.

On Tuesday, September 13, retired Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta handed the instruments of power to his successor William Ruto after the Supreme Court dismissed a petition filed by Raila Odinga challenging his victory in the August 9, elections.
